Is custom jewellery more expensive than ready-made pieces?
Not necessarily. Pricing depends on the materials and design complexity. In many cases, custom pieces can be comparable in price — and often offer more value, flexibility, and personal meaning than pre-made designs.
Can I create a custom piece if I don’t live in Ottawa?
Yes. We regularly work with clients across Canada, the United States, and internationally. The entire custom process can be completed remotely through email, phone, and virtual consultations.
Does Magpie use recycled materials?
Yes. We prioritize recycled gold in our custom work whenever possible. Recycled gold has the same purity and quality as newly mined gold, while reducing environmental impact.
We can also repurpose existing jewellery or heirloom pieces by melting them down and transforming them into something new and meaningful.
What is the warranty on custom jewellery?
We offer a lifetime guarantee against manufacturing defects on all custom pieces.
This does not include damage from wear, misuse, or accidental damage. However, we are always happy to assist with repairs at a reduced cost whenever possible.
Do you offer ethical diamonds?
Yes. We source diamonds under strict ethical standards, including the Kimberley Process, and work with trusted North American suppliers.

What are lab-grown diamonds?
Lab-grown diamonds are created using advanced technology that replicates the natural diamond-growing process.

Do salt & pepper diamonds come with certification?
Salt & pepper diamonds typically do not come with the same certification as traditional white diamonds. However, all stones are ethically sourced and selected for quality.
Every custom piece includes a complimentary appraisal from our in-house gemologist.
Can I redesign heirloom jewellery?
Yes — this is one of our specialties.
We can reset or melt down existing gold and gemstones to create a completely new design while preserving the sentimental value of your original piece.
